A new release for the OptiSigns Pro Player line is now live! OTA update pro-player-j6426-2513086 should be rolling out to your devices on your next scheduled OTA update.

These updates will apply to both the regular OptiSigns Pro Player and the ProMax.

Key Features

Here is a list of the update’s key features.

Remote Keyboard Functionality with Mobile Admin App

The new update allows you to use the OptiSigns Mobile Admin App as a remote keyboard, eliminating the need for on-site presence or to plug in an actual keyboard to make inputs. This should dramatically improve the player’s quality of life.

Enables Pairing with QR Code

Instead of having to type a Pairing Code into the OptiSigns portal to activate your player, a QR code can be scanned to perform this function. This allows a mobile device to quickly activate a player without the need for a desktop.

Adds Disk Encryption Functionality

A much requested security feature, the OptiSigns Pro line now allows its hard drive to be encrypted. When enabled, in the event of device theft or other data breach, any data stored on the player will be safe.

For a complete guide on setting this up, see our support article on disk encryption.

Implements a Nightly Reboot

We’ve implemented a new nightly reboot to ensure peak performance of the player. By default, this is mapped to 00:00, but it can be adjusted or removed altogether if desired.

Allows Control via Remote Desktop

We’ve implemented a popular feature from our Android Player line, allowing users to remotely connect to their OptiSigns Pro or ProMax player through the OptiSigns portal via a Remote Desktop agent.

This allows manipulation and adjustment of the app in real-time.

Added Troubleshooting Page

Similar to the above, we’ve implemented a popular feature from our Android Players - the Troubleshooting page. This should be a user’s first stop when something goes wrong with content playback.

Added Ability to Create Device Log

By executing the following Remote Command, you’ll be able to create a Device Log for use on the OptiSigns portal:

collectDeviceLog

This will return a URL which can then be downloaded, showing the device log history.

See our article on How to use Remote Command Execution for more information on how to use this feature.

Now Supports SyncPlay

We’ve implemented better video playback with the SyncPlay feature. This allows multiple devices displaying the same playlist to show content in sync.

Added Support for Static IP Configuration for WiFi and LAN

The ability for the OptiSigns Pro and ProMax players to set a static IP has been improved. It can now be used for both WiFi and LAN, including Netmask, Gateway, and DNS entries.
